As some of you may know, I’ve been living in England for the past two years thanks to Uncle Sam. Now I’m moving back to the US. Beale AFB, California to be exact. I haven’t had a BMW in a few years, even though I technically still own my 95 318i. I was thinking of picking one up as a project. Maybe get an M3 with a beat motor and rebuild the S50 block I have in my garage. Any suggestions on parts I should pick up in my last month or so here in Europe before my household goods get shipped? And don’t say an M3 GT. I really really want one, and there’s one going for $15k right now, but I couldn’t import it and don’t have the cash for it anyway. I was thinking of picking up a 6-speed gearbox and maybe some Alpina stuff. Is a rebuild on the 6-speed from the M3 Evo expensive? There’s a guy here selling one for about $100, but it has slight bearing noise. Any suggestions are appreciated.
