99 M Coupe, Tire Mounting Causing Wheel Damage Questions
Ok so I have a 99 M Coupe for which I recently bought new tires for from Tirerack.com. I took the new rear tires and wheels (OEM silver 5 spoke) to a local tire place for mounting and balancing. After mounting the rear tires the paint along the edge of the wheel was flaking off. It appeared that they caused too much friction causing the paint to come off. Well I complained and after 5 weeks I finally got my wheels back fully refurbed.
Soooo…after that fiasco I took my front tires and wheels to a different tire shop for mounting telling them to be careful and noting what happened to the rears. They also caused a little flaking although not nearly as bad as the rear.
What is the deal? Did both shops cause the damage? Has anyone else had similar trouble? I’ve never had any of my wheels do this OEM and aftermarket.
Thanks for the help. I’m debating whether to get my front wheels refurbed as well.
