Hard time shifting in high RPM’s

I have 99 328i with a 5speed with 127k on it. Just started today. When I get above 4500 rpm and try and shift it has a problem finding the gate and you basically have to force it into gears. It doesn’t grind so I would think its not the syncros, what could it possibly be? Help please!!!!
